Taming the Storm The Storm Series eBook Samantha Towle
Tough but sweet heroine. Check. Hot, Alpha, Naughty Bad Ass Rocker. Check. So hot I think he might be hotter than Jake Wethers. Guiltily, Check. I am damn loyal to Jake BUT....Tom was a lovable smart ass, and seeing him open up to love and life with Lyla was an amazing journey. And, I totally appreciated his dominant side. A LOT.Hoping to see more down the road for this couple because this book was missing one magic ingredient, an epilogue.

Taming the Storm The Storm Series eBook Samantha Towle Reviews
Boy meets a girl, hits on her twice and is shocked to hell to find she wants nothing to do with him. Boy meets up with girl months later on a business trip. Girl puts up road blocks. Boy decides he likes the chase, the challenge and uses his charms to move those road blocks. Girl and boy decide the sexual tension is too much and once they give in, they realize sex is great. They decide they can do this "f**k buddies thing" while on business, once the trip is over, they will resume their old lives and pretend it never happened. Problem is, we aren't talking about any ordinary boy or any ordinary girl. We are talking about Tom Effing Carter, bassist for The Mighty Storm, and the hot and sexy lead singer of Vintage, Lyla Summers, nor are we talking about any ordinary business trip...this is a 6 week tour - on a tour bus!
"You're such a guy."
"I f***ing hope so, Firecracker. With the size of my junk, I'd worry if I wasn't."
I have loved this series and I can't think of a better way to end it than with a story about the untamable Tom Carter and the one who tamed him, Lyla Summers! This book was fun and it was sexy, all the things you would expect from a story about Tom. The banter between the two is off the charts good. Lyla gives as good as she gets and she is exactly what Tom needs.
"What will you do if you run out of women?"
"That'll never happen."
"You go through women at the speed of light." "So, what will you do then? Start recycling?"
Nope. I'm not an environmentally friendly kind of guy. And just so you know, I might have gone through a lot of women in my time, but when I f**k - I f**k long and slow...real f***ing slow."
"And I need to know your screwing speed, why?"
"You're not ready to hear the answer to that question."
"And what if I ever am-" "I mean, if I am, at some point in the imaginary, not-real-ever future?"
"Well, on that imaginary day, you would let me know, and then I'd tell you. But until the, just use that imagination of yours."
What I didn't expect, was that it was also a little sad, and that dimension made me love this book even more.
"You deserve better," "You deserve better than me."
Tom has a boyish charm that is as equally endearing as his sexy alpha male tendencies. And, despite him being funny as hell, he is hiding pain. It is that pain that we learn is the cause for him being the philandering Tom Cat that he is.
As he struggles to overcome his pain, Lyla struggles to overcome hers and the two find that they just might be perfect for each other. That is if they can let go of the past.
"Your guy is out there. One who won't be a mut. There's a guy who deserves an awesome girl like you."
I didn't like the characters in this book very much, but the book itself was very readable, I wasn't bored or wanting to skim parts.
Just once, when I'm reading one of these books, when the guy treats the girl like absolute crap, I want her to walk away and not look back. Of course that never happens, but I keep hoping!
When we finally get some insight into Tom, the book is nearly over, and I've spend the first 90% disliking him. Even with his tragic past, it doesn't excuse the awful way he treats women, especially Lyla. And the scene where he's out of condoms and Lyla balks at going without is gross. I completely get why she was hesitant, he's a complete manwhore (or "mut" as Lyla puts it). So instead of waiting (or going to the drugstore), he pins her to the bed until she relents? I thought that sort of "forced seduction" crap went out with disco and polyester leisure suits. Yuck.
Lyla seemed to be a strong woman except when it came to Tom, then she turns into a simpering idiot. I was hoping to get more story about her father, that seemed like an interesting storyline, but nothing happened with it.
There is a bit of Jake and Tru in the end, and it was nice seeing them again.
I was really happy to see that the next book in the series was going to be about Tom. I have to say that the picture I had in my mind of him physically wasn't anything like he was described in this book. I was happy to change my imagination to a sexier, muscular man than the other that I had imagined before.
I was hoping throughout that we would learn more about Tom and why he was/is the way he was/is. What his back story was. What his family life was like. I had to wait longer than I thought I'd have to but was thrilled to finally have the curtain pulled back and got a glance around.
It was telling for me when Tom went into the chapel at the hospital when Tru was in the accident. That's the first real glance you get at who the man behind the mask really is.
I have to say that I was also surprised and intrigued when Jake put Tom in charge of Lyla's band. Band manager. He was the last person I would have thought.
LOVE LYLA!! LOVE HER! I love me a strong leading lady. She doesn't disappoint. Loved the relationship that she and Tom built and loved how it all began. Loved the push and pull between them throughout. Definitely felt like slapping them both upside the head a few times.
Great book. Highly recommend.
Man. I was excited for this book, because Samantha Towle is the bomb, but even I was surprised at how much this story reached in and yanked my heart right up my throat. Lyla is SO kick ass, I laughed out loud so many times at her internal dialogue. And while I loved Tom in the previous two TMS books, he just gutted me in this one. Yes, a couple time I wanted to knee him in the balls, but that's what makes Ms Towle such a good author. I still adored him despite all of that. The sexual tension between these two was incredible, but she made the wait so worth it once these finally hit the sheets. What I also loved was that she didn't put too much angst in this book, which happens far too often in my opinion. It was just enough to make me unable to stop reading, but not to the point where I'm ready to drive over my kindle bc of what the characters are doing. This is one freaking talented author. Go ahead and fall in love with Tom and Lyla.
