Others have summarized so no need to revisit.I was rooting for this book the whole time.
Kept waiting ... to settle into a rhythm... to take me to that special 'suspend disbelief' place,
but alas ended up feeling the plot was choppy and unfocused. I found that the length of the book
(which I usually long for) was not really helping the story. To me, this book could be a lot more
powerful if it was shorter and highlighted a smaller number of events that really shape the story.
I liked the lead characters, though Alex's past was a bit over the top in terms of believability.
Regina, a medical resident, was predictable overall except a little premature
to announce to her right wing homophobic mother she was gay [way before she was]. I think you
have to earn that conversation. Chemistry and depth was average.
Dialogue, the connection, was not magical, but close, so close.

This book was so good I could not put it down from start to finish it will be a book I read again am in love with this story ... 5star for me¡!!!!!!¡
Well written with a great story line. Twists and it's that were totally unexpected. I like how it shows that your past doesn't have to decide your future.
I dug into this book and hibernated inside it. I found the characters true to life and frustrating as hell at times! Give this book a go...I don't think it will disappoint.
i like reading this book over and over because i enjoy reading it over and over
I enjoyed the medical aspect to this book. I have also been called to respond to a trauma code in the ER. I can attest to the fact that a routine shift in the ER is far from routine. The relationship that grew between Alex and Regina started as a friendship. The best and longest relationships usually do. I would recommend this book to my friends.
Lynne Norris has written a medical themed drama between two doctors which became complicated by too many story lines running through it. The jealous violent ex boyfriend, homophobic mother, dark pasts, medical fraud and unethical behaviour of drug companies etc.Too much! These were all reasonable and realistic ideas but all together didn't give them much depth. A pity as the two main characters were really likeable.
I agree that Alex & Regina were meant to be together. I found the book gripping & at times found it difficult to put down, even woke up n the morning with my glasses still on. There has to be a sequel! I see Derrick getting his due & children in the future for Alex & Regina. But, I note that this book was written some time ago, I must do the research & see if there was a sequel & if not we need to search out Ms. Norris & hound he into another book. Good job!
Update Her follow-up book is called "The Road Back Home". You can download it free or read it free on-line. Just google her name.
