I read this as extra credit for my english class, and I'm glad I did. It was an enjoyable, easy read while at the same time it taught me about an actual event that occurred in history. I recommend this to readers who would like to know more about this time period. It is not boring at all. However, it seemed like Sarah was miserable, and the ending was kindof...dull and unhappy. This was the first book I read by Anne Rinaldi. Since this book, I have read Hang a Thousand Trees with Ribbons and The Fifth of March by the same author. The Fifth of March is REALLY good, but I really liked Hang a Thousand Trees with Ribbons a lot as well.
very interesting different perspective on Paul Revere and that time of our history. Quick read with much historical significance that one can take as fact or just possibly a child's view of her family's role in an exciting time for this country. I very much enjoyed it. Can imagine it as a history lesson for children in the 10-midteens age group also.
The Secret of Sarah Revere by Ann Rinaldi is about the Revolutionary War, Paul Revere, and his family. This book is a historical fiction for middle school and low high school level.
Rinaldi wrote it from Sarah Revere's point of view. As I said before it is a historical fiction and it gives true information in a creative fictional way. She writes for the audience intended because it is from a teen's perspective and it gives teenager emotions. I would recommend this book because it gives good information and she wrote it creatively. I could not put this book down.
The theme for this book is how Sarah Revere stats to find out about her father, Paul Revere's, involvement in the war. The thesis is that Sarah doesn't really know what to do since her father has a different involvement from others.
This book was very interesting because it was easy to follow and very creative. With the little background information I had it was accurate.
Ann Rinaldi usually gives some more information in the author's note. She extends on the main historical events. The author's note really helps me because she elaborates more on the events.
Sarah has one main question she always asks which is "What matters? The truth- or what people think?" She doesn't really figure out what her father things and she wants to. Rinaldi has wrote many books and this is my favorite, of the few I have read because I love history and it is very interesting.
A colleague recommended Ann Rinaldi to me, so I decided to give her a try. There is much to like here - a strong female protagonist, a relatively balanced disucssion of the issues surrounding the American Revolution, and vivid descriptions of pre-colonial life.

The story is told from the persepctive of 13 year-old Sarah Revere, the second oldest of Paul Revere's children. Through her eyes we see glimpses of the growing rebellion against Britain, with the concerns and worries of a daughter for her father, and of a girl becoming a woman.

I like the book, and see why it was recommended - however, I think the book would be more a better fit for the grade 6 - 8 age group.
This was not the first Ann Rinaldi book I read, but it was the one that got me hooked. I saw it on the self of new arrivals at the school library, and I said "Eh, what the heck" I started reading it in Study Hall and I finished one chapter, and I read it whenever I had free time. It is a great story. The charecter of Sarah is highly complex and can relate to almost any girl. Her father, Paul Revere, is protrayed as a loving father and a patriot.
Okay the story It's 1774. The word on everybody's lips is war, though few dare to utter it. Your home town, Boston is divided between Patriot folk and Tories. You are 14 and your father is the famous Paul Revere and when he is off on his rides you must stay home and struggle keep your family together. Your house is full of secrets. And then one day your older sister tells you that your father's best friend, Dr. Warren, (who is more like an uncle to you) has feelings that are less than honorable to your stepmom. Soon you start believing it too. There is one problem, you are in love with Dr. Warren. And with everymovement you remember the words "What matters? What's true or what people think?"
"Father, what matters? What people think? Or what’s true?"

Sarah Revere is the daughter of the famous Paul Revere. I think this is one of Rinaldi's best, and that's saying something. She has such a gift for blending fact and fiction, reality and imagination so seamlessly that you become completely wrapped up in the story. I learn more from Rinaldi's books than the best history book could ever hope to convey; she brings these characters to life in a way few other authors can manage.
Rinaldi continues to tell history's tale and weave in a great story as truthfully as can be done with the unknown
